Nissan Leaf at Killams Park, Taunton

On 27 April Summerfield Homes teamed up with South West Nissan and Wilkie May & Tuckwood to bring a fantastic eco-friendly electric car event to Killams Park, Taunton. South West Nissan kindly allowed us to use and display the latest model Nissan Leaf – particularly appropriate at this new development as many of the plots on Phase 2 at Killams Park come with an electric car charging point as standard.

Keep your eye out for the Summerfield Nissan Leaf around Taunton and Wellington in the upcoming months as we will be holding a ‘spot the car’ competition on social media with the chance to win a fabulous prize!

361 gifts donated in Christmas shoebox appeal

At the end of 2018 Summerfield Homes again joined with Wilkie May & Tuckwood to support the Arc (formerly Taunton Association for the Homeless) Christmas shoebox appeal.

We asked people to make the season a little easier for those who have unfortunately become homeless by donating shoeboxes containing small useful items. These included things most of us take for granted, such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, as well as winter warmth in the form of hats and gloves. In addition this year we asked Arc to suggest a few larger ‘wish list’ items and this resulted in donations of sleeping bags, roll mats and cutlery sets, all much appreciated.

The shoeboxes were collected at Wilkie May & Tuckwood’s Taunton, Wellington, Bridgwater and Watchet premises and at Summerfield’s Killams Park development and our administrative office in Taunton.

The final totals were a fantastic 361 shoeboxes and £640 in monetary donations; the cash will go towards buying more items for those who have so little.

Phil Morgan, Divisional Director at Summerfield, said:

“Once again, we were overwhelmed by the kindness of the local community. The response to the appeal has been truly heart-warming and we are delighted to be able to make a small difference to some of those amongst us who are so lacking in basic necessities, let alone home comforts.”

We would like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to all who so generously contributed and took the time and trouble to wrap their gifts and bring them along.
