New Generation McDonalds Restaurant handed over

A new generation 140 seater restaurant and drive-thru has been successfully practically completed on Westpark 26 business park at Chelston, Wellington.  Developed by Summerfield, the new McDonalds building has been pre-fabricated off site and delivered in six sections, was assembled on site with the Phase 2 works being completed on Monday 7 December 2020.

Working with Devon Contractors, McDonalds and Elliott, (who made the pre-fabricated building), Summerfield have completed the Phase 2 works, allowing McDonalds to open the restaurant and Drive-thru on Wednesday 9 December 2020.

The opening will generate 65 new full time and part time jobs (45 full time equivalent positions).  McDonalds have been recruiting and training staff to be able to open so soon after the building is completed.

“We are excited to be part of this development and look forward to the new jobs our restaurant will create, and the investment it will bring to the local area”, commented a McDonald’s spokesperson.

McDonald’s will join the Costa Coffee drive thru and restaurant, The Skylark Pub, along with a Subway and a Budgens convenience store as part of the BP petrol filling station.

“Summerfield are delighted to welcome the opening of the new McDonalds on Westpark – and the new jobs it has bought with it.  The new generation design of building looks great and will provide additional amenity to those already working on Westpark and Chelston, as well as the surrounding area.”, commented Ben Trickey, Summerfield’s Commercial Director.

“Summerfield are now close to submitting a planning application for further terrace units for industrial and trade counter uses on the neighbouring plot.  We already have two units Under Offer and these will add to the mix and range of uses on Westpark – bringing with them new job creation.”

New Generation McDonalds Restaurant delivered

A new generation 140 seater restaurant and drive-thru has been successfully delivered onto Westpark 26 business park at Chelston, Wellington.  Developed by Summerfield, the new McDonalds building has been pre-fabricated off site and delivered in six sections, which were then craned into position.

Working with Devon Contractors, McDonalds and Elliott, (who made the pre-fabricated building), Summerfield have completed Phase One of the construction of the new building for McDonald’s.  Following the arrival of the modular building, Phase 2 works will commence with a target date to practically complete the building before the end of December 2020.

This is one of the first New Generation McDonalds restaurants and drive-thru’s in the country and will generate 65 new full time and part time jobs (45 full time equivalent positions).  McDonalds are currently recruiting and training staff to be able to open soon after the building is completed.

“As Westpark expands, it has drawn in more great names to compliment the many great businesses on site.”, commented Ben Trickey, Summerfield’s Commercial Director.  “Westpark now has its own momentum and continues to offer a terrific range of amenities to the locality along with employment building options for both new and established businesses.”

Summerfield are working up plans for a new build terrace of Trade Counter and industrial warehouse units to be located adjacent to the McDonalds – and terms have been agreed with the first two occupiers.  All enquiries to Summerfield’s agents Alder King or JLL – or direct to Summerfield.

Good news at West Country business park

Westpark 26 business park at Chelston, Wellington – developed by Summerfield – is to welcome a new 140 seater restaurant and drive-thru McDonald’s.

Working with Devon Contractors, Summerfield are currently on site to deliver the new building for McDonald’s.  Construction works are due to be practically completed by Q1, 2021, with McDonalds planning to open early in 2021. The new restaurant will create 65 new full time and part time jobs (45 full time equivalent positions) in a time when hundreds of new homes are being developed around Wellington and when new opportunities for employment are scarce.

‘We are excited to be part of this development and look forward to the new jobs our restaurant will create, and the investment it will bring to the local area.’, commented a McDonald’s spokesperson.

McDonald’s will join a Costa Coffee drive thru along with The Skylark Pub, a Subway and a Budgens convenience store as part of the petrol filling station.

“McDonald’s will add to the existing amenities on site at Westpark, offering the resident and local businesses an excellent working environment and amenities”, commented Ben Trickey, Summerfield’s Commercial Director.

Summerfield are now working up plans for a further terrace of Trade Counter and industrial warehouse units – and terms have been agreed with the first occupier.  All enquiries to Summerfield’s agents Alder King or JLL – or direct to Summerfield.

Bespoke facility for Bath Quartermaster at Westpark 26

Summerfield Developments has completed a bespoke new warehouse/storage facility at Westpark 26 near Wellington for storage firm Bath Quartermaster.

Summerfield, which was advised by Alder King and JLL, agreed a design and build contract with Bath Quartermaster earlier this year for a 24,588 sq ft storage facility on a 1.4 acre plot.

Devon Contractors began work in April on the unit, which features an unusually high building at 13 m to eaves, and achieved practical completion at the end of October. Bath Quartermaster, which was represented by Giles Thomas of Matthews & Goodman, is now fitting out the unit before opening the facility in Q1 2020.

The development is the latest to be completed by Summerfield on its 40 acre business park which is located just off Junction 26 of the M5 motorway.

Ben Trickey of Summerfield said:

“The completion and handover of this purpose-built facility is another important milestone in the development of the business park and we are pleased to welcome Bath Quartermaster as a new occupier. We now have over 100 occupiers on the park, with more due to open for business in the next few months.

“For businesses looking to secure accommodation in this part of the South West, we still have plots available on the park which can be offered on a design and build basis on either a leasehold or freehold basis.”

Andrew Maynard, partner at Alder King’s Taunton office, says Westpark 26 has been one of the most active business parks in the region over the past year.

“Summerfield has seen strong levels of activity across the park this year, with a number of design and build contracts and lettings of existing space. There is definitely buoyancy in the market for good quality, well-connected accommodation and Westpark 26 has benefited from developing several phases of the scheme speculatively.”

David Cranwell of Bath Quartermaster commented:

“We’ve been very impressed by the quality and attention to detail that Summerfield has displayed, as this cutting edge storage facility was designed within very fine tolerances to facilitate state of the art picking equipment. Trading under the Stowsafe Storage banner, we look forward to servicing customers based in the south west.”

Westpark 26 accommodates a broad spectrum of businesses with on site amenities including a 60 bed Travelodge hotel, The Skylark pub, a Shell petrol filling station, Budgens convenience store, Anytime Fitness gym (24 hour access), Costa Coffee express (opening mid December 2019) and a Subway restaurant.
