Planning Granted on New Business Units on Westpark 26, Wellington

Summerfield Commercial is pleased to announce that planning permission has been granted for 16 brand-new, energy-efficient units on Plot 19 at Westpark 26, a premier 40-acre mixed-use business park in Wellington, Somerset. The units range from 1,750 sq. ft. to 30,000 sq. ft and offer excellent opportunities for new or expanding businesses to join the thriving location.

The new units could be suitable for a wide array of uses as occupiers on Westpark currently include food production, distribution, engineering, fitness, trade counters, and scientific laboratories. Each unit is designed with flexibility in mind. Owners and tenants have the option to combine spaces by omitting dividing walls, add mezzanine floors or create office space to suit their specific needs.

Each new unit boasts high energy efficiency with an EPC A rating, solar panels, and the option to add EV charging points. These features not only reduce a business’s carbon footprint but will also lower overall energy and operating costs.

Westpark 26’s strategic location means it benefits from excellent connectivity as it is just 1.5 miles from Junction 26 of the M5 motorway, providing easy access to major transport routes. The business park is within a 60-minute drive time of 1.35 million people and has over 16,000 cars travelling past on the A38 every day.

MK Test Systems currently occupies ATE House at Westpark 26. Jason Evans, Managing Director at MK Test Systems said: “We relocated to ATE House on Westpark in 2018 and Summerfield Commercial installed our mezzanine to create our office space. Westpark 26 is our global headquarters, all our departments operate from this main hub, and provide support to our regional hubs in the US and Hong Kong. The flexibility of the business park also allowed us to house our innovation centre adjacent to ATE House, in Unit B5, where we have an extensive and modern R&D lab as well as our dedicated customer demo area.”

P&M Roofing Supplies Ltd currently occupies Units B6 & B7 at Westpark 26 and have been tenants at the business park since 2018. Paul Bishop comments on why they chose Westpark 26 as a base for their business: “The units at Westpark offered flexible space for us, Summerfield Commercial were easy to deal with and adaptable, they left a party wall out of the space which allowed us to store large materials. The location is great for our clients and overall, the business park is very accessible.”
