Summerfield Homes are pleased to announce the future development of 20 new homes in North Petherton, Somerset.
The development is in a prime location on the outskirts of Bridgwater and will comprise of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes including a number of affordable homes.
The land is currently occupied by Carrott’s Farm Shop and which is due to close in July 2022. A potential new location for the farm shop will be confirmed by Mr Carrott at a later date, as he is looking to open new premises in the future.
Tony Carrott’s Father started a mobile grocery business working from an old milk float in 1969 and ran this for 20 years with Tony’s assistance. They occupied the current site 38 years ago using a calving shed initially as storage for their mobile business. However, the mobile business was phased out when customers started attending the calving shed directly to purchase produce.
Once they ceased trading as a mobile business, Tony adapted the calving shed to become more appropriate for a farm shop by adding in a false ceiling and better lighting. He also made the additions of green houses and growing tunnels so they had the ability to grow their own produce to sell.
Like the story behind Carrott’s Farm, Summerfield Homes has a rich history evolving from a family owned construction firm that was founded in 1823. Summerfield have built a long standing reputation for their considerate construction of high quality new homes across the South West having now completed in the region of 2,000 homes.
Ed Khodabandehloo, Managing Director of Summerfield Homes said: “We are pleased to have acquired the land currently occupied by Carrott’s Farm and look forward to bringing 20 new homes to the market in spring 2023.”
Work on the new homes is due to commence summer 2022, with the first homes available in the spring of 2023.
