Westpark 26 - Toasting early success

May 2009

Summerfield Developments at Taunton have recently announced the completion of the transaction of a freehold sale of land at Westpark 26.

Westpark 26 is a mixed use business park in excess of forty acres just of junction 26 of the M5. The gateway site is located alongside the successful Chelston Business Park.

The freehold land sale to Marston’s Plc for the construction of a pub, restaurant and hotel is a major coup not only for the park but for the area.

John Kinsey, partner of the Leisure Department of King Sturge, who negotiated the transaction commented “ in the present economic climate this is a major transaction which underlines the superb location of West park 26 and the development in total as a major business park in the South West”.

Marston’s Plc have over 1,700 public houses and hotels in 65 counties across England and Wales which range from busy town centre, high street pubs through to village inns.

The purchase of the site at Westpark 26 compliments other major landmark sites within the area including the Pitcher and Piano in Taunton, The Fisherman’s Cott at Bickleigh and the White Hart Hotel in Exeter.

Ben Trickey, Senior Development Surveyor at Summerfield Developments commented, “This is good for Westpark 26 and good for both businesses and residents in the area. The new pub and hotel will provide welcome employment as well as serving a local need.”

On the rest of the business park, Ben Trickey went on to add, “We are in discussion with a number of serious potential occupiers and enquiry levels have picked up recently, so the timing of this is terrific. This is a great start to Westpark.
