Richard Lloyd, Group Chief Executive of Summerfield Developments of Taunton, has been appointed Chairman of the company following Michael Foden's retirement from the Chair on 31 December. Michael remains a Non Executive Director of associated companies Blackdown Estates Limited and Tauntfield Limited.

Richard is a chartered surveyor and joined Summerfield Developments on its formation in 1987 having previously worked for Savills in London and King Sturge in Bristol.

Richard lives locally with his wife Jane and four daughters and is a keen sportsman in his spare time.

The Summerfield companies have seen substantial growth over recent years with turnover in excess of £25 million last year.

The company has recently sold some 175,000 sq ft of prestige offices in its three major office parks, Blackbrook Taunton, Woodwater Park Exeter, and the Turnpike Business Park Chippenham. It has also completed the Chelston Business Park at Wellington, which is primarily industrial, with 86,000 sq ft sold last year. It was announced recently that Summerfield has won the multi million contract to develop a new regional South West Fire Control and Rescue Centre on three acres at Blackbrook, Taunton.

The Company retains a substantial commercial investment portfolio in the South West and has expanded Summerfield Homes the residential arm of the company which has a number of attractive development sites in and around Taunton. Summerfield specialise in town and village properties in Somerset and Devon, ranging from 1 Bed flats to Executive homes.
