Completion and Key Exchange at Cutcombe

Completion and Key Exchange at Cutcombe

New homes for Exmoor families and their four-legged friends

After almost five years in the making, the first new residents have just moved in to their new homes on a unique development on Exmoor.

Summerfield Homes first began discussions with Exmoor National Park, local authorities and community groups regarding the development of 23 new homes in the village of Cutcombe in 2006.  The development is one of the few residential developments on Exmoor for many years and the scheme included rebuilding the local livestock market and providing ten properties as affordable homes for local people.

One of the first to move in to their new four-bedroom home on Cutcombe Rise were retired couple John and Sue Harvey and their dog Roly.  John, a former site manager for Summerfield, first heard about the development over 3 years ago and his wife Sue said: “We are absolutely thrilled with our new home and although we’ve looked at a few sites locally, nothing compares to this and it was definitely well worth the wait.”

The Harveys, who previously lived in Taunton, wanted a home new home in the countryside.  “With beautiful views, a good sized plot and a perfect location for walking, our home is low maintenance and energy efficient, which is exactly what we wanted.” said Sue.

Richard Nicol, Director of Summerfield Developments said: “I think it’s a testament to the quality of our building developments that one of our former staff members has waited so long for his ‘perfect property’. I’m so pleased that they can enjoy their retirement in Cutcombe, where the community is one of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.”

“We’ve built these homes sympathetically, in keeping with their beautiful setting, but step inside and  it’s all about meeting the needs of modern lifestyles with Hotpoint integrated appliancesin the kitchens, plus a choice of fitted units offering plenty of storage.  The bathrooms and en suite facilities boast high quality fixtures and fittings, too, and we’ve not overlooked the exterior ,with a garage or dedicated parking, water butts and compost bins for all homes,” explained Richard.

Cutcombe Rise is set within the heart of the Exmoor National Park and is just a few miles from the towns of Dulverton and Minehead, with larger towns of Taunton and Tiverton providing access to the major road and rail networks, including the M5 and direct rail links to London.

Summerfield currently has just six remaining homes available at Cutcombe Rise starting in price from £160,000 for a two-bedroom home with en suite facility.  The homes have been constructed using traditional methods, combined with features including air source heat pumps, solar hot water collectors and wood burning stoves, making them both environmentally friendly and efficient to run.

A show home will be opening on Friday 19thAugust to showcase all that a brand new Summerfield home has to offer and the sales office will be open from 11am to 5pm on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.
