Sixth Taunton Boules Tournament raises £2,750 for the Stroke Association

Once again, the annual Summerfield Taunton Boules Tournament was a sellout, when 40 teams from Taunton and surrounds came together on a warm September day to enjoy the competition in the pretty grounds of Woodlands Castle. It was a great opportunity for networking, at the same time supporting a most worthy local charity.

This year the event was held in aid of the South West branch of the Stroke Association and, topped up with a contribution from Summerfield, raised a total of £2,750. Sarah Miller, Service Development Manager at the Stroke Association, gave a most interesting talk detailing their work with stroke sufferers and stroke prevention.

The ‘Stroke of Genius’ team not only took part in the tournament but also offered blood pressure checks with useful advice on the steps we can take to avoid stroke. Click on their logo below to go to their web site.

The two Viridor teams were jointly awarded the fancy dress prize, with Rule Brettania (Peter Brett Associates) receiving an honorable mention for their Team GB outfits.

The Boulderdash (Croft Surveyors) team won a decisive victory over the Boules of Legal Steel (Porter Dodson LLP) to take the Plate.

The Moore Scarrott team did so well to get to the Cup final, but were beaten by a team who had never played the game before – WPA. Many congratulations to them. We always say ‘no experience necessary’ and are delighted to be proved right!
